Former Prime Minister's daughter and PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said that despite Nawaz Sharif's disqualification, the opponents are afraid of growing popularity of the PML-N president and alliances are being made and broken against him.

While addressing a gathering in NA-120, held to restore the lease of DAV Hostels, Maryam said that those who were even not ready to face each other are gathered to form a political alliance just in fear of popularity of Nawaz Sharif and block his agenda of national development.

According to her, the country's politics revolves around the PML-N president Nawaz Sharif and his opponents have become restless as they do not have any substantial issue to address in their rallies and meetings.

Bitterly criticising the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Maryam said he (Imran) has been trying foul for the last four years. She said, "He (Imran) repeatedly changed his stance in the court but was not disqualified despite admitting his assets and off shore company." Elaborating on Imran's case further, she added that even after Imran accepted his assets and offshore company, the court did not.

She said that perhaps the "courts know matters related to Imran better than him because Imran owns offshore company but the court did not accept it". Referring to the ongoing accountability hearing in the NAB references filed against her family, Maryam said the accountability watchdog will not find anything against the Sharif family.

"They dragged Nawaz Sharif to court four-time yet did not find any corruption against him." Nawaz is beloved leader of people of Pakistan while his opponents look towards Umpire, NAB and courts, she said, adding: "Whenever Pakistan would move forward, our opponents would start crying."

She further said that the dictators only snatched peoples' rights while in democratic era country makes progress. She said that Nawaz Sharif fulfilled all promises including those related to CPEC, overcoming power loadshedding, economic revival, end of terrorism, restoration of peace in Karachi and huge networks of roads and motorways. She said the political opponents hide behind religion, sit-ins, NAB and unconstitutional practices.

About the ongoing investigation in corruption references against the Sharif family, Maryam slammed investigation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), saying the witnesses couldn't even convey what they witnessed and revealed that there is no irregularity in the bank accounts of both Nawaz Sharif and herself.

"The witnesses are handed over documents which they are unaware of," she said, adding: "They don't even know what is written in their statements against the Sharif family." Maryam said that Nawaz Sharif will win the 2018 general elections. "Pakistan will once again continue the journey of development, which has disconnected after Nawaz's disqualification.

"The so-called opponents are nothing but pawn and tissue paper," she said. She urged the PML-N activists to spread the message of Nawaz Sharif for 'Tehreek-e-Adl' which is meant for provision of justice across the board in real sense. She said she is herself monitoring development projects in NA-120. She vowed to fulfill all the promises made with the people of the constituency.
